It is truly an honor to be able to introduce Abdul Aziz Said for this biographical project. I was lucky and privileged to play a small part in his long and magnificent academic and applied journey of building and contributing to the field of peace studies.

For more than half a century, Abdul Aziz Said has dedicated himself to the advancement of theory and practice in the fields of international relations and international peace and conflict resolution. As the senior ranking professor at American University in Washington, D.C., and the Director of the School of International Service’s International Peace and Conflict Resolution Division, Said has been responsible for developing a wide range of innovative educational, research, and outreach programs. These programs include a Master of Arts degree and four dual or joint degree options, as well as concentrations at the doctoral and undergraduate levels.
